Garden greetings!
Praise God for all that He is growing in
our garden! Despite the chilly and soggy
start to our growing season, our harvests have been plentiful and filled with
many blessings. Our shared summer bounty
has also included over 350 lbs of fresh produce donated to S.A.F.E.! Thanks be to God! And to all of our hard working and dedicated
garden members!
Our 5th Annual Tomato Sandwich
Supper was enjoyed by many this past Sunday afternoon as we shared in
fellowship together along with lots of ‘mater sandwiches and sides! Thank you to all those that were able to
join us!
Mark your calendars for our next
garden/community workshop entitled “Packing In the Nutrition, Not Packing On
the Pounds: Simple, Effective, Healthful Food Tips for the Whole Family” Chill out with us from the summer
heat as we enjoy an afternoon sampling delicious juices and light refreshments
while gaining wisdom (and not pounds!) with a talk led by our own garden member,
Traci Philips! The event will held on August 24, 2-4pm in the
Concord UMC fellowship hall as we listen to Traci share helpful information about healthful
meal planning and how to include the kids! Traci’s husband Jeff, and
daughter Madi will talk about a new program they are trying to incorporate more
veggies and fruits and Jeff will share simple juicing for incorporating more
veggies (without the veggie taste!). Traci is a Holistic Health Lifestyle
Coach helping individuals to create balance in the various areas of their lives
so that the choices they make lead to a healthier lifestyle. Traci
believes that food is something to enjoy and discover, and she finds joy in
educating others on how to have happy healthy relationships with food.
The cost for the event is $10 per adult and kids are free (8 and older only
please) which includes take home resources to help you obtain your nutritional
goals for the whole family. You are also invited to bring a favorite vegetable
or fruit that you would like to try out with the juicer! Invite your
friends!
A look ahead to the evening of September
14th will be our always much anticipated “Harvest Celebration Dinner” as we
share together with our community, God’s continued blessings of our summer
harvests. More info to follow soon!
We continually praise God for His gift of
The Garden of Concord as he teaches and enables us to work and take care of His
creation by growing and sharing good food and friendships with many! Thank you to all of our garden family and friends for your prayers and support of our garden!
It WILL be good!
